The Research Software Support Network will hold its first provider convening on August 6th, 2026. This convening will bring together resources across JHU to work towards building a successful and supportive network for research software.

Event Details

The Research Software Support Network will convene in person from 9am to 4pm on Thursday, August 6th at the Scott-Bates Commons on the Homewood campus in Baltimore. 

Purpose

How do we begin to build an engaged community to design, launch, and sustain a coordinated support network for research software at Hopkins?

Goals

  • Establish buy-in from service providers and create the structure to begin working together. Develop a shared purpose, clarifying that none of us can/should solve the full set of research software support needs.
  • Each participant understands the reasons why this network needs to exist, why their department/team needs to be a part of it, who their collaborators will be, and how to participate.

Who can attend?

In order to keep this event interactive and accommodate participants, the convening is invite-only and closed to the public. If you or your unit would like an invite to attend, please reach out to Megan and Rosemary. 

Can I attend remotely?

The convening is an all-day, collaborative, in-person event. We are unable to offer virtual attendance. If you cannot attend but would still like to be a part of the RSSN, please reach out to us!

How many representatives can attend?

No more than two representatives from each service unit can attend. We ask that each service provider send at least one representative to the convening. 

Where is the convening taking place?

We will be convening in the Scott-Bates Commons, adjacent to the Homewood campus at 3301 N Charles St.

Are food options provided?

Lunch will be catered and vegetarian options will be available. Light refreshments will also be provided throughout the event. Please indicate any dietary restrictions on your RSVP.

Do I need to prepare anything for the convening?

Please come prepared to give a brief 2-3 minute introduction of your services and team. This template includes a suggested framework for your introduction.
